Freeriders Pro- Special Limited Edition, for Breast Cancer Awareness

I was fortunate to get my hands on a pair of the new Five Ten Freerider Pro, Limited Edition for breast cancer awareness. (All proceeds of the sale supports breast cancer awareness.)

Honestly, I have been skeptical of any 5.10 shoe for a while…. I didn’t like the look of them… They looked super wide (looked like clown shoes to me). But they are insanely popular in the MTB community so, when I saw these limited edition shoes being released, I had to give them a go.

The shoes have fantastic grip for great pedal control. Having ridden these shoes on my Crank Brothers stamp 7 pedals for the last few weeks, I can definitely say it is a killer combination.

I have wide feet, so these fit perfectly. I don’t feel like they are tight on the sides of my feet, or squishing my little toe. Also, it’s easy to put on without any hassle-unlike other shoes with a higher ankle.

Other shoes I’ve worn have felt tough to walk on because of a stiff and thick rubber sole, however, the rubber sole of the Freerider Pro’s feels like it’s just right. It’s not stiff to walk on when you have to get through sections of a line that is too steep or technical. Or when you have to hike a bike!

I asked for feedback on our Instagram from those who’ve worn these shoes and here’s what I got:

  • These are amazing! I ride 2-5 a week and they are my go to shoes
  • The soles are super thin, I go through 3 pairs a year
  • I love them!
  • I love them, they are so comfy

The feedback about the sole being thin and going through 3 pairs a year, got me a little worried. But, it’s all dependent on how you wear the shoe, and how often you ride in them.

I’ll refresh this review in 6 months, after I’ve had a change to ride in these long term.

Another cool thing about these shoes is that the upper part of the shoe is made with “high-performance yarn which contains at least 50% Parley Ocean Plastic — reimagined plastic waste, intercepted on remote islands, beaches, coastal communities and shorelines, preventing it from polluting our ocean. The other 50% of the yarn is recycled polyester

These shoes are available in women and men’s sizing. The men’s shoe looks slightly different than the women’s shoe, being that the sole is black and not tan.

The sizing starts a:

  • Women: 5 to 11 (going up in .5 sizes)
  • Men: 6 to 15 (going up in .5 sizes)
