Bike Check- Beka's custom build

Beka has built a beautiful Trek Slash mountain bike!  She’s an east coaster that loves to ride bike parks. One of her favorite places to ride is Thunder Mountain Bike park in Charlemont, MA, where she shreds every summer and fall! Be sure to watch the bike check below, or  you can also listen to the bike check on Spotify or Apple Podcasts, where Beka breaks it all down.

Beka says that building this bike has been a labor of love, of which she can confidently say has been 100% worth it. Last year she fell in love with downhill mountain biking, and wanted to create a park bike that gave her the confidence to tackle anything she threw in front of it. Learning that carbon doesn’t always equal “best,” she found a creative way to build a beast of a park bike that met her needs, while also challenging her to keep progressing as a rider. She shares that the greatest accomplishment of this build is knowing that she stocked the bike with some amazing high-end components that she can never truly outride – and that keeps her feeling confident and empowered to challenge herself to take on bigger and bolder lines. Riding on an aluminum frame also gives her the peace of mind to bomb down new trails like a bull in a china shop, without worrying that she might break another carbon seat stay (for $600) on her next unintended encounter with the ground. Beka can truly say that every time she looks at her bike, she feels excited and inspired to ride, which she says “that is the most any of us can ever ask for in a dream bike.”

Check out our interview with her below, where we talk about this new build, they type of terrain she rides, where she rides, and her love for mountain biking.

Below is a full breakdown of her bike, components, and other goodies.
