Toobox- A great resource for women cyclists
Words by Mia
I came across this delightful book while perusing Instagram about a month ago. It was like fate, as I had been struggling with some issues down there on my rides.
I couldn’t figure out what was going on…was it my saddle that I had changed for the 3rd time? Was it the chamois I was wearing? Or was it the fact that I wear underwear with my chamois, and no cream?
I was kinda losing hope. And honestly, I was a little embarrassed to talk to my female riding friends about it.
Then, after I saw this book and read more about the author, Dr. Meredith Mae Janelle, I decided to buy it on Amazon. And let me tell you, I am SO glad that I did!
The book covers some of the most basic yet important issues women face as cyclists. Everything from the female anatomy, bike fit, physiology, biking while pregnant, and cycling through menopause is covered in this short, clever read.
Importantly, for me, is the fact that it discusses cycling gear and the importance of a bike fit! This book made me aware that I was wearing underwear with my chamois when I shouldn’t be… It also made me aware of trying on a chamois cream… something I didn’t think of. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’ve been riding for quite a few years, and I feel embarrassed that I’m JUST NOW discovering this. But I discovered it nonetheless, and I feel it’s important to share it with you all!
I highly recommend this book. It’s a short, easy read with a lot of great information.
