Shredly Pants Review
Shredly’s pants review is the feature of November’s in-depth mtb gear and clothing discussion. Shredly makes some incredibly comfortable pants, shorts, and chamois, which are also functional and beautiful designed. With sizes ranging from a 0-24, Shredly have a huge variety for women of all sizes. Not only that, they offer two types of waist bands: Snap, or yoga style.
Mia, Lauren and Beka, at Women’s MTB Network ,have worn and ridden in the Shredly Pants for a while: Mia size 16 & 14, Beka size 12, and Lauren size 0. All of our takes, including the pros and cons of the pants are discussed below.
Words by Lauren:
Rider Measurements: 5’7.5, Size 0
I’ve been riding the rainbow ombre pants for the past 5-6 months and I really like the overall fit and comfort. I’ve ridden them in all types of terrain locations: XC trails, tech rides and long days at the bike park. They are super comfortable and breakable, which I like. They are a high waisted pant, which I’m usually not a fan of, but the elastic band they use is really flexible so I hardly notice it on big climbs.
As you can see from the photos below, the color is really vibrant and hasn’t faded in the wash. The pants have two pockets with a zipper, and I do wish they had at least one more large zipper pocket on the other side to put a phone or wallet. One other thing I noticed about the pants, is they do not have a zipper near the bottom leg cuff, so once you put knee pads on, they are on until you take off the pants.
I haven’t taken a fall in them yet, so I can’t speak to the durability or resistance to tears, but overall they are very comfortable and you can easily wear them all do without any issue.
Beka found them to be the most comfortable pants she’s ever worn:
Rider Measurements: 5’7, Size 12
The pro’s on these pants are that they are super comfortable and stretchy, and have a flexible material. The high-waist wide yoga-style super-soft-stretchy waistband combined with the flexible and soft material made these the most comfortable mtb pants I’ve ever worn. The waist is high enough that I never have to worry about lower back exposure while riding. The flexible material was easy to move in while riding all day at a downhill park, plus my bulky knee pads fit well, albeit slightly snugly, under them. Plus – lots of pockets! One big enough for my phone, plus two others to hold my lift pass, chapstick, and a small multi-tool. While I rode these at a downhill park, they would definitely be comfortable for all-day pedaling.
Some cons for me: Durability. I sustained a pretty decent crash while wearing these pants, and while they didn’t rip or show any major signs of wear (other than some scuffing where I actually made contact with the ground), I do worry about the durability of the material. By based on feel alone, the material seems to be the least durable out of all the pants I’ve tried over the years. I also noticed some snags in the threads, almost like mini runs like you’d see in tights/stockings. My crash involved landing in some pretty soft dirt, but my suspicion is that the material of these pants would snag or rip easily against branches, thorns or rocks.
Mia’s Take on two different sizes:
Rider Measurements: 5’4, Size 14 & 16
I’ve been riding Shredly pants and shorts for the past 2 years. They are comfortable, light, stretchy and come in some great colours
I have found that the yoga style stretch waistband is absolutely amazing! I personally prefer those bands over any snap bands found in other pants.
Like Beka, one con that I’ve experienced is durability, and I’ve experienced that the pants do rip with ease. Twice with minor falls, my pants and shorts have ripped. However, if you experience this be sure to contact the crew at Shredly! They will get you sorted, just like they did with me!
The Shredly Pants on Trail: All three of us have ridden these mtb pants and put them to the test on various types of trails, and each time, the pants were conformable to ride in:
- Cross country
- Sedona Chunk
- East Coast Chunk
- Various bike parks across the country
Our recommendation: If you want a comfortable of pants, that’s easy to pedal in and you love the unique colors and feel, then these pants are highly recommended.
Shredly offer a variety of pants, in a ton of different colors and patterns. They also have two style of waist bands: Snap and Yoga some of which are on sale at the moment.
