Bike Check- Mia's custom build
Hey everyone, Mia here! This bike has been a labor of love that I have built over the last 2 years. It is by far the best mountain bike I’ve owned (I used to ride Giant). The Canfield suspension on this bike is unlike anything else I’ve experienced. The bike is fast, poppy, playful, and best of all, it climbs really well! This little beauty got bike of the day on Vital MTB in January!
Where I ride: Roughly 75% of my riding is in Ventura and LA Counties, in Southern California. A lot of it is cross country style riding, with some fun flowy downhills. There is quite a bit of climbing here, but this bike handles it really well, which is one of the main reasons I chose it.
I also ride in Sedona 3-4 times a year. I’ve taken the Rascal all around Sedona trails-the tech and the flow- and it performed beautify! It’s like the bike is made specifically for that environment: the techy climbs, rock gardens, & roots.
I have taken it to Skypark (Skypark Santa’s Village) located in Lake Arrowhead, California, and I loved it! It was the first time taking the bike to a bike park, and it performed much better than I anticipated. Granted, I didn’t do the jump line, but the flowly single track, and fast descents made the bike easy to handle.
Why the Rascal: I chose this bike and it’s components for a few reasons… For where I ride the majority of the time the travel is perfect for tech, roots, and like I said above, the bike climbs exceptionally well. Also, I upgraded the fork to 150mm of travel so I could ride in Sedona and some parks. Given I don’t ride in Sedona or Bike parks as often as my local trails, this bike is absolutely perfect. The oval chainring helps with climbing, which as you’ve likely guessed by now, I don’t like to do…
My recommendation: I highly recommend this bike for anyone who wants an all round “trail” bike and is ready to take on lots of tech. The 130mm of rear travel combined with either 140mm or 150mm of front travel, makes it a great combination for all types of riding. But also, keep in mind that when choosing a bike the perfect cinderella bike doesn’t exist… Choosing a bike should not only be about where you ride 80% of time, but also what you want do with that bike. Do you want to learn tech, or steeps? Choose the bike you want for what you want to do with it, as well as where you want to ride. There’s no right or wrong answer.
I demoed and ordered this bike from the crew at Worldwide Cyclery. Jared helped me order the bike, and put the first custom touches on it. WC offers a gift card when you order a bike from them (after you demoed one), and lifetime bike maintenance. Other components (fork, dropper, seat) I got from our supporters, the crew at Newbury Park Bike Shop. The oval chainring was from one of our other supporters, the crew at Thunder Mountain Bikes in Sedona.
Revel offers a lifetime frame warranty for the original owner. Revel stands behind any issues that may arise with your bike, and will do everything to get you taken care of.
You can order the bike directly from Revel, or from one of their certified dealers.
