The 2025 US XC Open—formerly known as the US Pro Cup for elite riders—is underway, showcasing the top cross-country women mountain bikers in North America. With six rounds spanning coast to coast, this prestigious MTB race series is a proving ground for Olympians, professional racers, and emerging talent.

What is the US XC Open?

This national series includes six high-stakes rounds that test riders’ strength, speed, and strategy. Each event includes two races: the XCC (Cross-Country Short Circuit) and the XCO (Cross-Country Olympic), both held on the same course but offering different challenges.
–XCC: This fast-paced race, usually around 25 minutes long, serves as a qualifier for the XCO by determining start positions. It emphasizes speed, agility, and tactical positioning.
–XCO: The main event of the weekend, this 90-minute race pushes riders with technical sections, steep climbs, and endurance-demanding terrain.

Temecula, CA: Kelsey Urban Dominates the Opener

The 2025 season began in Temecula, California, from March 7–9. US rider Kelsey Urban made a bold statement, taking victories in both the XCC and XCO events in the Elite Women’s category. Her performance placed her at the top of the leaderboard after the first round.

Fayetteville, AR: Familiar Ground, Fierce Competition

The second round ran from March 13–23 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where Centennial Park hosted the US XC Open for the fourth consecutive year. Known for its purpose-built track that blends modern features with classic XC design, the course delivered a unique challenge.

In the Elite Women’s races:
—Kate Courtney won Thursday’s XCO and Friday’s XCC events, showcasing her form and consistency
–On Saturday, Canadian rider Jennifer Jackson surged ahead in the XCO race, edging out Courtney, who finished second.

Looking Ahead: Fall River, Wisconsin

Round Three of the 2025 US Pro Cup heads to Fall River, WI, on May 2–3. As the series intensifies, the pressure mounts for riders hoping to secure podium finishes and national points.
